The whole little family out in the garden — papa and mama dragon and their two, coaxing a row of seedlings up with a breath of leaves instead of fire. This is the landing verse turned into a picture: nobody here is anywhere near finished growing, and that's the point.
a friendly green papa dragon and a green mama dragon with their two little children — a bigger boy baby dragon and a smaller girl baby dragon — tending a small garden together, a parent gently breathing out a little puff of green leaf-sprouts instead of fire, a row of small seedlings sprouting from the soil, a tiny watering can, a soft rolling grassy hill, minimal children's picture-book spot illustration, crayon and colored marker, thick wobbly outlines, flat warm colors, naive and playful, lots of plain background, no text.
The papa dragon himself — the mascot in the masthead. Drawn flat, background lifted away, then traced to vector so he stays crisp at any size. He breathes a leaf, not fire; that has always been the whole idea.
a friendly little green papa dragon holding a single leaf sprig, soft and round, minimal children's picture-book character, crayon and marker, thick wobbly outlines, flat color, isolated on a transparent background.
An earlier take on the same scene — one papa dragon and a single little one. I grew it into the whole-family version for the masthead, and kept this quieter first draft here in the garden.

The colophon's little scene: a dragon tending a sprout that grows straight out of a computer — the whole “tiny machine, tended by hand” idea in one drawing.

The little mascot for the stylesheet post — a dragon with a crayon, because olragon.css is really just colouring plain HTML by hand.

olragon is wordplay on “dragon”, so here is the resident: a little green one that breathes a leaf, not fire. Generated flat on purpose, then traced to clean vector — it feels right that the mascot is made of curves you can zoom into forever.
A cute friendly little round green dragon sitting among a few simple flowers and sprouts, a small leaf puff at its snout, a soft rolling hill, one paper lantern — bold clean outlines, flat color shapes, minimal, lots of plain background.

The kid watering code-flowers while the robot reads a book made from them — it says the whole “your work quietly feeds the next model” idea more gently than a thousand of my words could.
A child waters a garden of code-flowers while a friendly robot reads a book made from them — simple children's picture-book illustration, hand-drawn with crayon and colored marker, thick wobbly outlines, flat bright colors, naive and playful, plain white paper background, no text.
